Here are a few FAQs to help you plan your event, and get a feel for what to expect when working with Sound Waves Entertainment.

    When should I book my DJ?

    A

    You should consider booking your DJ at least 9-12 months in advance. The earlier you book, the better. The most popular months are June, July, September and October for "Wedding Season".

    What kind of music do you play?

    A

    We have nearly 200,000 songs in our library, and carry music from 1938 through today, including Oldies, Motown, Disco, Classic Rock, Mainstream/Top 40, Rhythm, Blues and Country. This is your event, not ours, so the music you want is what we play. There is no need to give us an entire list of songs unless that is what you feel comfortable with. Our DJs are very good at gauging the crowd for the type of genre to play.

    How many hours will you play music?

    A

    Your event is unique, so we can price our services to fit your needs. Typically we are hired in 4 hour increments of "play time". We do not charge for setup or tear down.

    Our venue is small and we don't know where to put the DJ, but we want music. How much space do you take up?

    A

    We have been doing this for many years, and have worked in venues of all sizes! We will work with you and your venue to find the perfect spot for our equipment and speakers, and arranging everything in a way that fits your seating plan, so that no one gets seated right next to a speaker!

    Do we need to include the DJ in our head count for food?

    A

    There is no requirement to feed us; however, it is much appreciated if you do, as we are setting up at the venue a couple hours before the event, and the often the last to leave. Some venues offer vendor dinners.

    Is there a program we are supposed to follow throughout the night?

    A

    If your event is a wedding, we will have all of the necessary information needed about the first dance, bridal party dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, cutting the cake, bouquet toss, garter removal and any other special dances requested. The only thing we ask is that you show up and let us do the rest. This is your special day, and the last thing you need is to worry about your reception. You have spent a long time planning it, so enjoy it! For special events, you tell us what order you’d like, and we will make it happen!

    What areas do you service?

    A

    We typically DJ in Summit, Stark and Cuyahoga counties. Basically the Cleveland/Akron/Canton areas. We will travel further if requested.

    What makes you experienced?

    A

    DJ Tony started his career in 1991, after numerous requests for him to DJ other events, he decided to open his own business. In addition to his years as a DJ, he was also the former lead singer for "The Class of 57" and "The Legends Band". Tony prides himself in professionalism, and wants to be someone that can be trusted. He has hired only the best and most experienced professionals, and whether you get DJ Tony, DJ Paul or DJ Dominick, your event will be one to remember!

    What sound system do you use?

    A

    The sound systems we use are a very high quality BOSE L1 Model II speakers that put out 1,000 watts per side. (Small venues may require us to use smaller speakers.)

    Why should we get a DJ instead of playing our own music?

    A

    Remember, the two most important services for your wedding are photographer and DJ. Pictures capture those memories that last forever, and people will always remember the fun they had with a great DJ! Sound Waves Entertainment has nearly 200,000 songs in their library and our experienced DJs will select the perfect playlists for your event. They can also read the crowd, and select songs in the moment that will keep the party going strong!

    How do I book?

    A

    You can reach us via the contact form on our website, or email tony@soundwavesonline.com. We will go over your event details and provide you with pricing. We offer package discounts when booking multiple services, such as DJ services, lighting and officiant.

    What happens after I book?

    A

    About two weeks prior to your event, your assigned DJ will go over all the details with you in person. (or via phone if preferred) We will make sure there are no surprises for you, and that you know exactly what to expect. We have yet to see a wedding or party go exactly as planned, but don't worry, as our staff is very adaptable. Our experience allows us to handle any same day changes or issues that may arise. Our DJ and assistant (if needed) will arrive at your event early to setup, and be dressed in professional attire for the evening.

    Can you also marry us?

    A

    Yes! We have two ordained officiants on staff at Sound Waves Entertainment. Both are licensed to officiate the vows of marriage within the State of Ohio.

    Can I request a specific DJ?

    A

    Depending on availability, you are more than welcome to request either DJ Tony, DJ Paul, or DJ Dominick!

    Do you only DJ weddings?

    A

    Absolutely not! We can provide music for all special events, including; weddings, receptions, reunions, corporate gatherings, birthday parties, bar/bat mitzvahs, fundraisers, proms, or any other reason to party!
